Jotter - the title of our new album already hints at something new compared to the four previous albums: In addition to five of our own compositions, this time we have added arrangements of Bach works as well as a sonata by Domenico Scarlatti, and two tracks feature clarinet and bass clarinet.

‘Jotter stands for my personal sketchbook, in which I had accumulated a lot of my own ideas.’ (Jens Schöwings)

Blue Note Bach, an exciting crossover project by Bremen jazz pianist Jens Schöwing, has been interpreting the music of J.S. Bach in a variety of ways in different line-ups and programmes since 2006.

The ensemble has played at numerous jazz festivals in the past, such as Jazzahead, but is also a welcome guest at classical concert organisers. Invitations from Bach societies document the seriousness and artistic value of the arrangements.

Christian Frank, double bass
