Miguel Rodrigues - Antídoto (2025)

Young drummer and composer Miguel Rodrigues is preparing to present his second album as leader. Rodrigues made his recording debut in 2021, with the album “EMPA”, published by Cena Jovem jazz.pt. The new album, titled “Antídoto”, will be released with the Carimbo Porta-Jazz label. To record this new project, the drummer brought together a quartet with José Soares on saxophone, André Matos on guitar and Demian Cabaud on double bass. “Antídoto” is part of GiraDiscos’ catalogue by Gira Sol Azul, with support from Viseu City Hall, funding from Eixo Cultura Viseu and design by Maria Mónica. The album will be presented in concert on February 16th, at 4 pm, at the Círculo de Criação Contemporânea de Viseu – Polo II (in this concert André Fernandes will perform on guitar, replacing André Matos).

I see music as a transformative and healing power, an immersive and emotional experience that allows for doses of reflection and renewal. “Antidote” emerges as a reflection of this conviction, seeking, through group improvisation, musical dialogue and the mixture of different colors and sounds, to reflect freedom, cooperation and the ability to create beauty in chaos.»
