“Nouse Luonto”, a unique collaboration between prominent Finnish folk musicians, will be released on February 7: the artists have come together for this album project to preserve the biological diversity of their homeland. The musicians are united by their love of nature, their belief in the power of collaboration and their admiration for the great wealth of Finnish folk music. Traditional Finnish folk music is full of references to the fact that people's lives have been closely intertwined with ecosystems since time immemorial. “Nouse Luonto” is a fragment of an ancient magical spell that conjures up courage and energy. But in Finnish, “luonto” is also the word for nature.
Each band and musician has written a traditional song on this theme or arranged it in a completely new way. Almost all the songs have been newly composed for this album. The artists also work together. The album contains songs in Finnish, Swedish, Northern Sami and Romani. They were recorded in different parts of the country, from Helsinki to Nuorgam. The album ends with a highlight: all the musicians sing together on one song.
