A very lovingly and detailed compilation with remastered tracks by the US rockabilly singer.
This compilation of songs by the first ever Rollin' Rock artist is further proof of Part's close relationship with Ronny Weiser and his Rollin' Rock label. Ronny Weiser discovered Jimmy Lee Maslon when he was only 14 years old and showed a strong penchant for rockabilly and rock'n'roll - absolutely unusual for such a young person in the early 70s. Just one year later, his first song appeared on Rollin' Rock.
My Wildcat Ways - 26 Hot Tracks" honors a guitarist and singer in a class of his own, who is a master of both razor-sharp cover songs and outstanding original compositions. The songs included are also pioneering achievements, many were written long before the great rockabilly revival and contained a manic pulling power that would only re-emerge later with neo-rockabilly and psychobilly.
The connections to Jimmy Lee Maslon are numerous; it's no coincidence that The Meteors covered his "Your Wildcat Ways" and the legendary catsuit photo of Poison Ivy (artwork for The Cramps' album "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog") was taken in his backyard. But the music speaks even more for the individualist, his unorthodox, wild approach to the legacy of 50's music is just as groundbreaking as his ability to add an interesting spice to rather staid rock 'n' roll ballads.
This compilation is an overdue and successful tribute to his work. 26 songs, over 63 minutes total playing time, 28-page 4c booklet with numerous historical photos as well as detailed, personal and touching liner notes by Poison Ivy (The Cramps), Rip Masters, Ray Campi, Ronny Weiser, Wild Bob Burgos, Electric Earl, Johnny Legend and the artist himself.
