Dream Theater - Parasomnia (2025)

Dream Theater's new album, Parasomnia, is out on February 7th, and is now officially available for listening. It's the band's first new album with Mike Portnoy on drums in sixteen years.

Dream Theater's new album, Parasomnia, was released today, again with Mike Portnoy on board. Produced by John Petrucci and engineered by James Meslin and Andy Sneap, it's the band's sixteenth album. "The Portnoy energy is back," keyboardist Jordan Rudess said of the new album during the studio sessions. "I can say that I'm hearing classic Dream Theater. Everyone's waiting for it, and they're going to hear it. Imagine the core of the band back together. So the music is classic Dream Theater. And I want to emphasize that we all take our jobs extremely seriously, we do everything with maximum energy. Everyone is extremely thorough. One of the most amazing things Mike has brought to the music is his incredible talent. He’s not just a great drummer, he’s a great visionary in every aspect of the music industry. I would say he has a filmmaker’s mentality, he looks at everything conceptually, and he has skills in that area that we lack. I mean, yeah, the band was great without him, we won a Grammy and stuff, but now the magic is back. And it’s really good. He really got us all pumped up.”
