Barbra and Bas were a Dutch singing duo consisting of Bas Moerman and Yvonne Grootenboer.
Their first Dutch-language LP, Terug van de reis (Back from the journey), was released in 1973. They performed on numerous radio and television programs. Barbra also presented the TROS children's program Wat zeg je van mijn hondje (What do you say about my dog). In 1991, they played leading roles in the short film De Cornelly's (The Cornellys). In 2000, Barbra and Bas decided to end their 35-year career as artists.
The duo started in 1965 as Duo Kol Simchah with a repertoire of Yiddish and Hebrew songs. A year later, they won AVRO's television talent show Nieuwe Oogst (New Harvest). Their professional career began with a tour of the United States (1971-1973), which was the reason to simplify their stage name to Barbra and Bas. Back in the Netherlands, they embraced the Dutch 'listening song'. Their records mainly contain their own lyrics and compositions.
