Hungary. Throughout his thirty-year career, songwriter, singer, and harmonica player Mátyás Pribojszki (Jumping Matt) has been constantly searching for new, exciting musical opportunities. His latest album, Jumping Matt & His Combo Forward, features twelve brand-new songs: eleven English-language compositions and one instrumental piece. All songs on the album share the same soundscape, but are independent compositions – each one is imbued with a soft jazz vibe.
The band entered the studio with a renewed lineup: Viktor Hamvas joined Pribojszki on keyboards and piano. The usual chart-topping rhythm section is provided by drummer Dániel Molnár and bassist László Csizmadia.
There is no shortage of star guests: Károly Belicza, one of Pribojszki's musical companions of several decades, entered this crazy world on saxophone, Attila Resetár and Tamás Bíró on trumpet, and Csaba Döge on trombone, while three female vocalists, Mónika Pintér, Gabriella Monori and Dóra Kaszti, underline the close connection between blues and jazz.
Mátyás Pribojszki's harmonica playing cannot be mistaken for anyone else's; his singing is nuanced, sophisticated and playful. The artist, who is the author of most of the songs, mostly called on his own experiences to create the new musical material. According to him, the undertaking, which can be considered an “emotional roller coaster”, revives the breakdown of friendships and family relationships, the loss of his parents, but also flashes back to the many wonders of life - the positive nuances are naturally also reflected in the sound.
Fans of Jumping Matt & His Combo will no longer be surprised to find that the new album is deeply imbued with flexibility, freshness, and honesty, as well as unique moods. Just like the blues itself.
His great band the Jumping Matt & His Combo entered the studio with a renewed line-up in the fall of 2024: Viktor Hamvas joined Combo, playing keyboard and piano. Drummer Dániel Molnár and bassist László Csizmadia are responsible for the usual top-charting rhythm section.
The title song of the latest LP “Forward” is about the changes of the past period and about moving forward, not looking back. The video clip also tries to show this, all in a positive, cheerful atmosphere.
