Andrea Berg - Nah am Feuer (2002

Andrea Berg has, by her own admission, never accepted limits in the portrayal of her dreams. Perhaps that is one of the famous keys to the success of the Krefeld native, who has now released her new album, Nah am Feuer.

There is no question: Andrea Berg has written pop history with her various successful albums of recent years. Both her sparkling voice and her charismatic appearance at concerts have become her trademark for her ever-growing fan community. Andrea Berg is no longer a "starlet", but a full-grown star in the pop music sky. When she looks back on her career, she can point to no fewer than nine albums. Since 1993 she has formed a successful team with her producer Eugen Römer. With Nah am Feuer, he has once again produced a wonderful album with 13 tracks. The compositions of all the pieces on this CD, as well as the arrangements, are his own work and seem to have been tailor-made for Andrea Berg.

The two have happily deepened and developed their shared musical language over the years of their collaboration, which is why Nah am Feuer presents itself in a contemporary guise throughout. Atmospheric ambient sounds, programmed electronic drum beats and fat bass create a real dance floor feeling that ensures a consistently good mood throughout the entire 45 minutes of the album. The reason for this is the consistently varied musical style. Pieces such as "Geh doch, wenn Du sie liebst" and "Zauberer wie Du" have a downright rocky feel, while songs such as "Stimme der Nacht", "Regenbogen" and "Auch heute noch" are more of a testament to Andrea Berg's romantic side.

With Nah am Feuer she has achieved the unusual feat of combining German hits with modern elements from pop and rock to create an independent whole, thus creating a sophisticated CD that stands out positively from conventional productions.
