Indian classical music on Sarod (string instrument) and Ghatam (clay pot with a narrow spout used as a percussion instrument in Indian music))
A meeting between Sudeshna and Somnath, with Sarod and Ghatam, with Hindustani and Carnatic music. We were excited - Some said it would not work to mix the two genres or just to use Sarod and Ghatam. But Hindustani and Carnatic music express the same, just in different ways.
Sarod: The sarod is a stringed instrument, used in Hindustani music on the Indian subcontinent. Along with the sitar, it is among the most popular and prominent instruments.
Ghatam: A clay pot with a narrow spout. It is played with the heel of the palms and the fingers, while held in the lap, the mouth facing the stomach of the musician. By changing the distance between the pot and the stomach, the musician can vary the tone of the instrument.
Tracklist:
1-1 Sudeshna Bhattacharya;Somnath Roy - Raga Mohan Manjari
1-2 Sudeshna Bhattacharya;Somnath Roy - Raga Khambaj
1-3 Sudeshna Bhattacharya;Somnath Roy - Bengali Folk with Ragamala
1-4 Sudeshna Bhattacharya;Somnath Roy - Raga Mishra Bhairavi
