Crazy Cavan 'n' the Rhythm Rockers, formed in Newport, South Wales, in 1970, were a pioneering rockabilly band central to the Teddy Boy movement. The original lineup included "Crazy" Cavan Grogan (vocals), Lyndon Needs (lead guitar), Terry Walley (rhythm guitar), Brian Thomas (piano), Don Kinsella (bass), and Mike Coffey (drums). Their unique style, termed "Crazy Rhythm," blended rockabilly, rock 'n' roll, and country influences. Initially performing as "Screamin' Count Dracula and the Vampires" in 1964, they evolved into "The Sundogs" in 1968 before adopting their final name in 1970.
In 1973, they established their own label, Crazy Rhythm Records, releasing their debut single "Teddy Boy Boogie." Their first album, Crazy Rhythm, came out in 1975 under the Dutch label Rockhouse, followed by a contract with Charly Records in 1976 for their second album, Rockability. Despite changes in the music scene, they maintained a dedicated fan base and continued to perform until frontman Cavan Grogan's death in February 2020.
The band's discography includes numerous albums, such as Our Own Way of Rockin' (1977), Red Hot 'N' Rockabilly (1979), and Rollin 'n' Rockin (2012). Their enduring influence is evident in the rockabilly genre and the Teddy Boy subculture.
