ACT II TOUR FESTIVAL BROADCAST, GERMANY 1993 In 1992, Prince and the New Power Generation released the 12 album, bearing only an unpronounceable symbol on the cover (later copyrighted asLove Symbol as its title. The symbol was explained as being a combination of the symbols for male and female. Warner Bros. wanted ‘7’ to be the first single, but Prince fought to release ‘My Name Is Prince’, as he believed its would appeal to the audience that had purchased his previous record. Prince got his way, but the single only reached No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 23 on the chart. The follow\-up, ‘Sexy MF’, charted at No. 66 on the Hot 100 and No. 76 on the chart. reached No. 7! The album, later referred to as Love Symbol, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and went on to sell 2.8 million copies worldwide. The Act II Tour was the European leg of Prince‘s preceding Act I Tour. This European jaunt showcased mainly his greatest hits, rather than the new songs that would later be included on Come and The Gold Experience, as he focused on in the US Act 1 leg. The Act II Tour played 27 dates in much bigger venues, which included Prince’s first and only show at the legendary Wembley Stadium on 31 July 1993. Still in Europe in September, on the 3rd, Prince and his band played a superb show at the Rock Over Germany festival, held this year on the old airfield in Luneburg, and recorded for live FM radio broadcast, which was transmitted across Germany and synched too back in the US. Previously unreleased this extraordinary performance is now available in its entirety for the first time on this new 2 CD set.
