Like the Hindu god Shiva, Indy Tumbita possesses the ability to adopt different identities when taking on multiple musical projects. Some of the groups where his characteristic Fender Stratocaster guitar sound can be heard include Los Duques de Monterrey, Thee Tumbitas, Pedrito Diablo & Los Cadáveras, and Joao Tomba. His new album, Bay Vibrations, features songs created specifically for this release, along with unreleased material from these bands' repertoires, as well as theatrical shows and television programs.
Bay Vibrations retains traces of each of these influences, but the album as a whole is reminiscent of "The Exotic Guitar Sounds Of" series, recorded in the past by notable session musicians. It incorporates elements of Spaghetti Western, Tiki Sounds, Jazz, and Flamenco, while also showcasing a clear connection to recordings by Alex Chilton, Jonathan Richman, and Tav Falco, thanks to Tumbita’s charisma and artistic trajectory.
The ten tracks on the album were recorded at Eclipsis Studios under the direction of Paco Serén (formerly of Piratas) and Indy Tumbita himself, with mastering by Manuel G. Sanz (Orphan Tracks, Selvática). For the upcoming release concerts, The Voodoo Bandits will accompany him, featuring:
Emilio Iniesta (La Cumbancha de la Martiniana, Los Mustang Charros) on drums,
Charlie Méndez (Pedrito Diablo, Los Duques de Monterrey) on bass and backing vocals,
Littos (Inerttes) on rhythm guitar,
Glen Gibb (La Chata, Big Bang Band) on saxophone,
Borja M (Big Bang Band) on trumpet, and
Borja L (Big Bang Band) on trombone.
