Lisandro Meza was born in the village of El Piñal, Los Palmitos (Sucre), Colombia, on September 26, 1937. He is a Colombian singer, composer, and musician, known artistically worldwide by various titles, including El Macho de América, El Rey sin Corona (The Uncrowned King), El Rey de la Cumbia (The King of Cumbia), El Rey Sabanero del Acordeón (The Sabanero King of the Accordion), El Sabanero Mayor (The Great Sabanero), and El Embajador de la Música Colombiana (The Ambassador of Colombian Music). In Paraguay, his music is particularly recognized as La Cachaca, earning him the title El Rey de la Cachaca (The King of Cachaca).
Over his more than 65-year musical career, he has recorded over 127 albums in various styles, ranging from traditional Colombian cumbia, porro, paseo, and vallenato, to explorations of other genres. Meza attributes his success to creating his own musical style, which he proudly calls "Estilo Limeza." In his own words, "Lisandro Meza's music touches the soul of Latin American folklore, especially for the people of Colombia, because it expresses our own life experiences."
