If ever there was a band that genuinely hopped both genre and geography, then it is Intercontinen7al; the band name itself alludes to the globally encompassing makeup of the band members, and World Over is a collection of 5 songs with contributions from all seven continents…Antarctica included.

But, as impressive as such a recording feat is, it counts for nothing if the music doesn’t speak for itself. Thankfully, it does; it speaks volumes. Like all good bands and all incredible albums, putting Intercontinen7al into a neat pigeon-hole is impossible, and perhaps the label world music, albeit such a broad term, is apposite here.

“Puerto Aisen” sets the mood perfectly, a sensual and soulful blend of delicate and delicious Latin vibes, shot through with scintillating saxophone, sultry spoken word, soaring violin and cascading acoustica and topped off with gorgeous and graceful vocals.

“Night Shift” takes things into the more pop-infused realm, but if such a phrase conjures images of run-of-the-mill chart sounds, this is anything but, rather, a deft, neo-soul piece with poised pop accessibility. “Butterflies” runs on an understated Bossa Nova beat, “The Chamber” is a mercurial, alt-meets-trippy-art-rock fusion and “Manor Hill” is an ever-evolving, genre-defying progressive/Latin-rock masterclass.

Twenty-one musicians, seven continents, five great songs and one fantastic album!
