TV Girl & George Clanton - Fauxllennium (2024)

There is no longer any need to introduce TV Girl at this point. The fact remains that the trio from San Francisco has firmly established itself in the American indie scene, and those who attended their concert at the 2022 edition of the Pitchfork Music Festival Paris can confirm this. This year, they are teaming up with George Clanton for an infectious mini-album called Fauxllennium.

Very quickly, TV Girl and George Clanton show off their undeniable chemistry throughout these seven tracks marked by nostalgia. We will think in particular of the opening track called "Summer 2000 Baby" where we navigate between baggy, Madchester and chillwave for vintage sensations before driving the point home with quality technicolor tracks like "Everything Blue" with a fake sample of a US rap verse from the 1990s (at one point, I thought I recognized 2Pac) and "Take A Trip".

And precisely, this trip through time that our hosts offer us is a real breath of fresh air. Between the reverbs and other effects in George Clanton's interpretation as well as the colorful and diverse influences of TV Girl, especially on "The Sweet Life", we are definitely won over. We reach the heights when Jordana adds her divine touch on the bewitching "Butterflies" or when originality comes to show its face on the conclusion named "Yesterday's World" halfway between Afrobeat and trip-hop, making Fauxllennum a mini-album paying tribute gracefully to the Y2K era.
