Lloyd Lamar Green, born in 1937, began playing guitar at the age of 7 and has been playing music professionally since he was 10. After moving to Nashville, he worked with various artists such as Faron Young and George Jones. In 1965, Green became known for his innovative style of steel guitar playing after releasing the hit song “The Bridge Washed Out”. He became an in-demand session musician, producing 116 country hits and working with big names such as Charlie Pride, Tammy Wynette and Alan Jackson. He has collaborated with pop and jazz artists including Paul McCartney and the Byrds. An award-winning recording artist, he retired in the late 1980s but returned in 2001. Green has recorded more than 10,000 sessions and 30,000 songs, and he is considered one of the most famous steel guitarists in history.
