Macsat - Turn It Up (2023)

Third studio album by the Münster-based ska-punk-rock formation led by Claas König on their own label Ring Of Fire

Although most of the lyrics are in English, there's no denying that Macsat are in the same league as local genre greats such as Rantanplan or Sondaschule via "Turn It Up". The 16, or on CD and cassette 18 brand new songs have a fabulous pulling power, playful and songwriting sophistication and combine reggae, rock'n'roll, ska and punk rock more casually than ever before. The "little brothers of Jaya The Cat" once again have a good handful of German-language songs in their luggage and, as you might have guessed, the list of friendly guest musicians is long and diverse. In addition to international colleagues such as Lee Scratch Perry (R.I.P.), Geoff from Jaya The Cat or Vic Ruggiero, Elf (Slime), Gunnar Schröder (Dritte Wahl) or Guido Donot can be heard, the latter as guitarist on six of the songs. However, the songs and the album as a whole are a real gem, even without these nice references. Macsat, who have recently had to cope with several line-up changes, have by no means lost their edge and present a first-class ska / punk album!
