Sue McCreeth’s hauntingly evocative original work has long been praised by reviewers for its beauty, ambition and originality. The best of her work now being re-mastered and re-released during 2024 and 2025 on 33 Records. No Evil was her first all-standards album, recorded with the impeccable company of guitarist Jim Mullen, trumpeter Steve Waterman and bassist Andrew Cleyndert. It's not singer plus accompaniment so much as four musicians working together, and the result is a dozen intimate and nicely judged performances. The subdued volume brings out the best in McCreeth's voice, especially her whispery low register.
