Coilguns - Odd Love (2024) Hi-Res

It is now impossible to stop Louis Jucker's productivity. The Swiss musician surprised us with his last album with the Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain called Suitcase Suite last year. This year, he reconnects with his Coilguns and returns to set the crowds ablaze with a brand new wild album called Odd Love.

On the program of these eleven tracks, Coilguns offers us a good summary of post-hardcore and noise-punk in order to solidify their reputation on the music scene. The guitars rumble from the beginning with a very burning and incendiary "We Missed The Parade" without forgetting this screamed song that makes us shudder before gaining height on "Placeholders" blowing hot and cold but also on the deliberately unleashed "Generic Skincare" and "Black Chyme". Odd Love is well prepared to turn us upside down.

Coilguns offers a stormy musical cocktail that never ceases to carry us away with, among others, "Venetian Blinds" or even "Featherweight". Louis Jucker also frees himself from a few diverse sounds like hip-hop on "Bandwagoning" or slightly psychedelic colors on "Caravel" while keeping this palpable tension from start to finish before the last sonic explosions that are "The Wind To Wash The Pain" or "Bunker Vaults" as a Dantesque conclusion sweeping everything away in its path. With Odd Love, Coilguns proves that they remain one of the faithful representatives of post-hardcore made in Switzerland.
