Here is the story of a man with an ideal and an inspiration that became an outstanding reality. Despite the protests and warnings of his musical colleagues, Phil Spitalny formed the Hour of Charm All-Girl Orchestra — their immediate acceptance and universal fame was Spitalny’s answer to the people who said “it couldn’t be done.” Phil Spitalny spent many years with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra before realizing that he was playing to a highly restricted audience. He saw the need of attractively presenting the general i public with well chosen, popular music— skillfully played — hence his startling decision to form an all-girl orchestra and choir. He was prompted to choose women for he was impressed with their growing success in Medicine, Law, Literature and other so-called “men’s professions.” His faith was well rewarded for the All-Girl Orchestra and Choir has played its way into the heart of musical America and won the praise of critics such as Toscanini who has chosen the Hour of Charm as one of his favorite radio programs. Upon hearing these Christmas Carols you will agree that Mr. Spitalny has enthusiastically responded to this opportunity of dis- playing his brilliant organization on Charm Records.
