Sofi Tukker - Treehouse (Japan Edition) (2018)

NYC dance-pop duo Sofi Tukker’s debut album is all about embracing individuality, letting loose and having one hell of a time along the way. “I don’t give a f**k about ‘they’,” goes the mantra on the pulsating “Fuck They”. “Batshit” celebrates being just that, and “Baby I’m a Queen” is an ode to being yourself on nobody else’s terms. The music itself is every bit as colourful and fun as that message: stylish house beats are punctured by impossibly catchy melodies, playful lyrics (sung in English and Brazilian Portuguese) and electric guitars, adding huge, organic energy to the understated cool lying beneath.
