Belinda Zhawi and Duncan Bellamy's Jump Ship, Sit Lean, Be Still, Stand Tall is a collaborative project blending poetic reflections and explorative soundscapes. Zhawi's evocative, elliptical poetry, rooted in her African diaspora heritage and artistic experimentation as MA.MOYO, is paired with Bellamy's fluid compositions, ranging from modern classical to ambient techno. Together, they create a melancholic yet luminous sonic-poetry collection.
Zhawi, a Zimbabwean-British literary and sound artist based in London and Marseille, is the author of Small Inheritances (2018) and co-founder of the literary platform BORN::FREE. Her work has been showcased across prestigious platforms like The White Review, Vogue, NTS, and BBC Radio. With residencies at Triangle-Asterides, Cove Park, and Serpentine Galleries, she continues to explore intersectional art and education in her first full poetry collection.
Bellamy, a multidisciplinary artist and founding member of the Mercury Prize-nominated Portico Quartet, investigates themes of time, memory, and transformation through sound, painting, and photography. Based in London, his work has been featured in collaboration with artist Hannah Collins and in his upcoming debut exhibition and music projects.
