Cuban vocalist, b. 27. August, 1923, d. 22. November, 1998.
Rolando Laserie (Mata, Villa Clara, August 27, 1923 - Coral Gables, November 22, 1998), also known as El Guapo or El Guapachoso, was a Cuban singer of boleros, guarachas, son cubano, son montuno, tangos and bolero son.
He learned to play the timpani at age 9. At the beginning of his professional life he alternated his status as a musician with the trade of shoemaker. He performed sporadically as a percussionist in the Municipal Band of Santa Clara. Right there, with 20 years of age he performed with the Arcaño Y Sus Maravillas orchestra, replacing Miguelito Cuní.
In 1946 he traveled to Havana, and worked as a percussionist in the Orquesta Hermanos Palau orchestra and eventually collaborated with different groups. Time later, he became a timbalero and choir in the Beny Moré Y Su Banda Gigante".
