In May, the Valencian musician Alberto Montero released the song "Castillos en el aire". It marked the end of a four-year silence for the artist. This beautiful piece reflects on the passage of time and a return to one’s essence. The song served as the first teaser for his new album. Montero's seventh record, Ciudad Dormida, will be released on November 15 under the BCore label.
This album takes us into the author’s subconscious, unveiling his emotions and the image of a city that appears in dreams. The music balances between the visible and the invisible. Each track feels like a bridge connecting two worlds.
The second single, "Nube Violeta", was inspired by Montero’s memories of leaving Barcelona. This song is one of the most experimental pieces on the album. Its lyrics and music express a connection to nature and being present in the moment.
Musically, the track blends two styles. It recalls the dark, impressionistic works of Montero, such as La Catedral Sumergida or Arco Mediterráneo. At the same time, it incorporates Latin American influences, notably in its hints of bossa nova, percussive rhythms, and vocal arrangements. The track also features the Peruvian duo Alejandro y María Laura, who recently moved to Spain and became friends with Montero.
The song begins with a violin melody and concludes with violins dancing to the sounds of an electrified guitar. It is a majestic and moving composition.
