Touch Sensitive is excited to announce a new release by Irish musician and producer Connor Dougan under his Deathbed Convert project, showcasing organic, ambient works. Known for his involvement in the Irish electronic scene with releases as Ai Messiah and Defcon, and collaborations with artists like Kaidi Tatham and Boxcutter, Connor’s latest work, Inverse Field Vol.1 - Inishowen, offers 42 minutes of captivating music inspired by the landscape of Inishowen, Co. Donegal.
Drawing from outdoor recording techniques used by John Martyn and a clip of Pharaoh Sanders playing in a tunnel, Connor recorded music outdoors, replayed it through a speaker, and captured the sound with a stereo microphone, blending the music with natural environmental sounds. Inishowen's wild beauty, with its beaches, cliffs, and ruins, set the perfect backdrop for this “inverted field recording.”
The recording process wasn’t without challenges, as wind, rain, and interruptions from locals, tourists, and animals added complexity. Embracing these imperfections, Connor incorporated them into the music, creating moments of synchronicity, such as bird calls and spontaneous musical interactions.
Connor’s goal was to respond musically to the new environment in an experiment of spontaneity. He hopes the album captures a hint of Inishowen's beauty, inviting everyone to experience this unique part of Ireland.
