London-based group Koteri has released their debut 8-track EP titled Heaven’s A Lonely Place. The group consists of Abdallah Diab, Dinar, and Jordan Spiro. Koteri was formed in 2018 through a shared passion for music, Arsenal F.C., and the modern spirit of hip-hop. Before releasing the EP, they shared the singles Karnaby, Fortune Green, and Marina del Rey. The other tracks on the EP blend elements of jam music, street soul, and space funk. The group drew inspiration from The Neptunes, J Dilla, and Kevin Parker. The group says that this EP is their first collection of songs. They have been writing and recording music for a long time, and this project is important to them. For Koteri, releasing these songs feels like opening a door into their world. The members’ eclectic tastes are tied to their diverse ethnic backgrounds. Their early influences include Frank Sinatra, Mika’s Life in Cartoon Motion, The Black Eyed Peas’ Elephunk, Bollywood soundtracks, and Sérgio Mendes.
