Mad Dillon's Deputies, or MDD for short, are a real Hagen band that was founded in 1978 and initially dedicated itself to Krautrock. In the 80s, the band was already a regular part of the "Hagen live" series of events, where bands such as Extrabreit and Grobschnitt were also part of the lineup, and played alongside big names such as the Spider Murphy Gang and Mother's Finest at "Rock auf dem Müll". An international tour with their own compositions also took the Deputies through northern France and Belgium in the early years. In the mid-90s, a new singer joined the band, who increasingly oriented the style towards classic and hard rock, and cover songs also found their way into the repertoire for the first time. In the decades that followed, not least on Gru Despite several personnel changes, the band's compositional work was characterized by the cross-genre merging of rock and pop elements, with covers or the adaptation of songs to suit their own character increasingly becoming the central project. The Deputies have been a fixture at city festivals in and around Hagen for years. In 2000 they played twice as local support for the Puhdys, one of the gigs in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle, and in 2019 as the opening act for Zoff. Since 2020, the band has had two new frontmen, Dirk Tetampel and Vera Heinisch, with whom the long-awaited return to rockier origins based exclusively on their own pieces was possible. Neither the sometimes tragic loss of valued band members nor the flood disaster in 2021, which affected the rehearsal room and even washed parts of the interior for miles as far as Hagen City Hall, could permanently shake the cohesion of the Mad Dillon's Deputies over all these years. For their 44th anniversary in 2022, they released an album with the Boersma Records label under the telling title "Still Unbreakable", which features exclusively varied original compositions consisting of blues, hard rock and (melodic) metal elements, and is celebrated by insiders as "feel-good hard rock", but also strikes a thoughtful tone.
