Danish violinist and composer Kristine Heebøll has released a new album featuring her own compositions of dance tunes. She collaborated with several Danish folk instrumentalists from four different bands to create this collection. Heebøll believes that there is a growing interest in folk dance and music, and she wanted to combine the energy of social dance with high-quality musical expression. She composed new material to complement the traditional folk music and hopes to contribute to the waiting period before this wave of interest fully takes over. In 2016, Heebøll challenged herself to compose music specifically for Danish dances, using a working grant from AUTOR (formerly DJBFA). She took a break from teaching and found inspiration in a room at Magtenbølle Enggård, where she worked alongside ship cats, her instruments, and a malfunctioning relay. Most of the album's material was composed in this setting.
