The music by Iosonouncane, born Jacopo Incani from Buggerru, draws inspiration from the evocative landscapes of classic Ennio Morricone soundtracks. In his latest work, Incani has created the soundtrack for Berlinguer, la grande ambizione, a film by Andrea Segre starring Elio Germano. The first single, "I funerali di Enrico," was released recently, embodying the emotional depth of a farewell scene, capturing a collective moment of mourning and the poignant end of an era as thousands gathered to pay their respects to the late communist leader, Enrico Berlinguer.
The piece has a “popular flavor,” with the haunting voice of Daniela Pes, a singer from Tempio Pausania whose debut album was also produced with Incani’s collaboration. The soundtrack as a whole is a tribute to the Italian film composers of the '70s—Morricone and Trovajoli, in particular—while blending Incani’s unique musical language, which moves fluidly across synthesizers, mellotron, classical guitar, and distinct instruments like the bena cun corru ‘e boe (a Sardinian horn) and vocal arrangements.
Set for release on October 31 through Numero Uno (Sony Music) and Tanca Records (Incani’s own label), the soundtrack also marks the beginning of a new series called Il suono attraversato (The Crossed Sound), which will feature film and theater soundtracks by Incani throughout his career.
