"Anthology 1971-1973" contains two Hard Stuff albums " Bulletproof "(1972) and" Bolex Dementia " (1973). The album "Bulletproof" includes the exclusive track "Monster In Paradise" - which featured Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. The track was originally written for Quatermass.
The second LP "Bolex Dementia" was also released on Purple Records in 1973. It was recorded at A. I. R. Studios and De Lane Lea in Wembley. The band Hard Stuff took it up after touring Europe. They worked mainly as a warm-up for Deep Purple.
The Purple Records label was created, in 1971, not only for the sake of the group's vanity Deep Purple. It was home to debut solo releases from Jon Lord, Roger Glover, Silverhead, Hard Stuff, and David Coverdale, as well as early releases by Ronnie James Dio with the band Elf. The label was also looking for young talent.
One of the first contracts was signed with the band Bullet, which consisted of Atomic Rooster musicians John kann (guitar) and Paul Hammond (drums). They were joined by John Gustafson (bass) from the band Quatermass. Due to the fact that the Bullet name was already owned by others, they changed the name to Hard Stuff.
