In the crowded music scene of Los Angeles, The Blessings have found a voice that doesn’t ask you to pay attention; it demands it!

Since staggering onto the world stage with their 2006 debut “Bare Bones”, The Blessings have been on a mission to return the “roll” so desperately missing from today’s “rock” music. Subsequent releases like 2011’s “Tomahawk Inn” and the 2015 EP “Shipwrecked”, as well as their highly anticipated follow-up 12-song album “Woke Up With the Noonday Devil” show that this band is comfortable drawing from many wells; from country and blues to soul and r&b, but always sound like a damn good rock n’ roll band.

Like all great bands, The Blessings’ true home is the stage. Their electrifying performances have earned them a diverse audience of devoted fans who never miss a chance to experience the energy of a live Blessings event. Singer and frontman Jeremy White has all the charisma of rock n’ roll icons like Peter Wolf or Rod Stewart. He delivers tear-jerking ballads and house-shaking rockers with equal conviction, all while conjuring ghosts of the Mississippi Delta with his world-class harp playing. Aiding him in vocal duties, Lavone Barnett-Seetal’s soulful voice has just enough gospel influence to offer hope of redemption for this band of sinners.
Guitarist Mike Gavigan weaves so expertly between hooky rhythm parts and explosive lead playing that you’ll swear you’re hearing two guitar players, while Jeffrey Howell on keys can go from barrel house piano to sanctimonious organ without missing a beat. All of this is held together by the swaggering rhythm section of Terry Love’s bass and Scott Sobol’s drums, who’s driving push-and-pull ensure even the most stoic fans are dancing by the end of the night.

The Blessings sound is both refreshing and timeless. They combine the lyrical prowess of Everyman poets like Chuck Berry and Hank Williams with the vibrant spirit of rebellion that has made rock n’ roll the language of misfits everywhere, making for a band with which anyone can identify. They have spent countless hours on stage earning their audience with sweat and tears, and their recorded output show that as they evolve and mature musically, The Blessings are never at risk of losing the “roll” that separates them from their “rock” music peers. -Tobin Dale
