Dub & Fire is an expression of The Black Seeds album ’Love & Fire’ in Dub with two of our favourite alchemists in dub production, Scientist and Dr Lee.
Crazily, Barnaby messaged Scientist about The Black Seeds, not expecting to hear back. Almost instantly the man himself Scientist responded and a conversation began. Scientist listened to our album, and showed interest in doing some dub mixes for us and that's when the collaboration began.
At the same time, Dr Lee (Lee Prebble from Surgery Studios) had already printed some heavy dub mixes for the seeds with the band yet to hear them. Dr Lee knew all the ins and outs of the tunes and his skilful application of dub production techniques flowed without the band around to slow him down. These mixes came directly from Dr Lee’s head.
What we have now on ‘Dub & Fire’ is an excellent combination of The Black Seeds with Scientist and Dr Lee Dubs bursting at the seams with flavour and arresting new perspectives on the ‘Love & Fire’ tracks.
