When alt-pop duo Dolores Forever perform their 2024 single Someday Best, a spirited anthem about living your best, carefree life, their fans go wild for one lyric in particular: “Shut up and eat the pasta!” Now emblazoned across Dolores Forever T-Shirts, it’s a line that perfectly captures the infectiously playful, unapologetic feminist energy at the heart of the London-based band, made up of songwriters Hannah Wilson and Julia Fabrin, who met at a house party in 2018 and instantly became friends. The duo delivers on a slick, cathartic debut of anthemic indie pop. Dolores Forever bring defiant feminism and festival ready bops on new album ‘It’s Nothing’.

Fresh off the back of a huge festival season, Dolores Forever are riding a huge wave of momentum, their much anticipated album ‘It’s Nothing’. Ferociously ambitious, the duo Hannah Wilson and Julia Fabrin have released a statement album which they describe in their own words as a “Punchy indie-pop record about feminism, friendship and navigating a messed up world”. Their modus operandi is what they call their shared “Feminine rage”, a theme running throughout the album. They often strike the balance between passionate feminism and playful fun, with a penchant for a dance bop and whipping up a frenzy at festivals alongside the likes of Wet Leg.

‘Someday Best’ immediately engages the earbuds with its mesmeric drum beat and hilariously tongue in cheek lyric ‘Shut up and eat the pasta, you know it’s going to taste fucking great!’ real earworm that won’t leave you two tracks in, playing with fiery feminism whilst also not taking themselves too seriously.

‘Split Lip ‘ is an ode to freedom and letting your inhibitions go, with its liberating lyrics ‘Go ride your bicycle and leave without a lock on your door’ really speaking to you with their simple but profound message to live without fear.

Album closer ‘Why Are You Not Scared Yet?’ shows a depth and maturity to the duo, and the song is a powerful wake up call to save both ourselves and the planet with its urgency and matter of fact delivery:: ‘Everybody you know is gonna be dead, but it’s ok we’ll have robots., and there’ll be no more water left, just Diet Coke, is that a detox?’. Such lyricism combined with their real knack for infectious pop surely shows their best is yet to come.
