60 years of stage presence and not a bit tired. Back to the roots.
J. Boss toured Germany in the 1960s with beat greats Lords, Rattles, and Liverbirds. In 1964 he co-founded his first band, The Stones, with performances in various live clubs in southern Germany. The J. BOSS BLUES BAND (JBBB) was one of the first blues bands in southern Germany in the 1970s, possibly even the first or second of its kind. The Frankfurt City Blues Band started at the same time. Blues bands had already established themselves somewhat earlier in the far north. The JBBB toured the whole of Germany at this time, performing primarily in jazz clubs. This period included appearances as the backing band for Errol Dixon, Eddie Taylor & Louis Meyers, Jim Kahr (ex John Lee Hooker Band), and Judy Cheeks. J. Boss also performed on stage as a duo with Henry Gray, pianist with blues legends the Howlin' Wolf Band.
In addition, the band often acted as a backing band for various blues greats for several years. The blues scene experienced a real boom, and more and more bands sprang up like mushrooms. Fees fell and it was no longer financially worthwhile to tour the country. In order to broaden their presence, the band dropped the “blues” from their name and began performing as the J. BOSS BAND. The band enjoyed success again and played in live clubs, discos, rock festivals and biker meetings. In 1984 they appeared as support acts for Eric Burdon and the Puhdys and toured Germany with the British band Dr. Feelgood. Up until 1986 they made guest appearances with the band Hoola Man Doola from Ludwigsburg as well as concerts with the Savoy Brown Blues Band, Jack Bruce, the Blues Brothers and a German tour with Bo Diddley. In 1989, J. Boss composed and played the soundtrack to the film “Unter weitem Himmel” by Oluf Zierl. In 1993, the band performed as the support act for Rory Gallagher, Saxon and Nine Bellow Zero. A French tour (clubs) followed in 1994.
The J. Boss Band finally broke up in 2010. But after that, J. Boss founded another blues band, which he really enjoyed. They play the old songs again. In 2019, new studio recordings were made, but they were not to be released until after the pandemic and the associated forced break.
With their new album "White Cats Play The Blues", the J. BOSS BLUES BAND is starting anew and is also present again with live performances. J. Boss embodies hard rock who holds up the flag of a music that always has its own time. Blues will never die!
