Good morning, my learned and hidden friends! I know that some people here have been complaining about the end of the '10-12 inch double'. Without a doubt, it would have been great to alternate between 10 and 12 inch records, but this requires work that involves not only digitization and editing, but also a thorough cleaning of the records, since many of them, before being digitized, need a good cleaning and this also involves the restoration of the covers. I lack the usual thing: time. But rest assured, because we will always have them here, it is just a matter of the right moment. For now, we will keep our musical touch like a box of surprises. And not to say that I didn't mention flowers, here is a very rare ten inch. Today and once again we have the legendary Dick Farney here. I say legendary because this is an artist with a lot of stories to tell and here at TM some good ones have already been told. I even thought that I had already posted this record, but since I didn't, here it is... Here we have Dick Farney in an international moment. I will summarize the presentation, because on the back cover we have a very detailed text. “Dick Farney on Broadway” was an album released by the Sinter label in 1954. In fact, in that same year he would also release two other 10-inch LPs by Continental. At that time Dick Farney was living his best phase, dedicating himself to both Brazilian popular music and American music, in this case, jazz. I believe this was his first LP, on which we have the original recordings made in the United States in 1947, for the Majestic label. In these recordings Dick is accompanied by the Paul Baron orchestra. Here in Brazil the album would only be released in the 1950s, in this case, on this LP. It is worth highlighting three tracks on this album, songs that were pillars of glory for the artist: “Marina”, by Dorival Caymmi, “Copacabana”, by João de Barro and Alberto Ribeiro and the international “Tenderly”, a classic of American music, by Walter Gross and Jack Lawrence, which Dick Farney had the honor of premiering, thus being the first singer to interpret the song. It is worth remembering that the English versions of “Marina” and “Copacabana” for this album are Jack Lawrence. Let's check it out on GTM?
