Referring to night and its charms, the young, multi- award-winning Arnold Trio pay a tribute to string trio music of early 20th century Hungary. ‘Evening in Transylvania’, a score of rare quality by Bartók’s pupil and friend Lajtha, evokes the course of the seasons in the mountains and meadows of ancient Transylvania in a reinvented folklore. An Intermezzo by Kodály, followed by Dohnányi’s sparkling Serenade, close the journey in a bewitching fragrance reminding of the Austro- Hungarian Belle Epoque.
