Lesoir, a five-piece band hailing from Maastricht, Netherlands, and formed in 2009, has quietly cultivated a global fan base. In 2019, they embarked on a five-week European tour with prog legends Riverside, leaving an indelible mark. Their subsequent self-released album, 'Mosaic,' in collaboration with Glassville Records, received widespread acclaim and earned placements on annual charts.
With plans for 20 headline shows in 2020, the pandemic intervened. In response, Lesoir unveiled the 20-minute-and-20-second epic 'Babel' on a limited handmade etched vinyl, autonomously selling out all 250 copies within four weeks. This release featured a one-off live recording and an animated short film by Crystal Spotlight, recognized for their collaborations with Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson.
Lesoir's live chemistry and groovy hooks have been commended, highlighting their distinctive approach to songwriting. In December 2022, the band ventured into recording their sixth album, 'Push Back The Horizon.'
The forthcoming album, "Push Back the Horizon," is produced by John Cornfield, renowned for his work with Muse, Kashmir, and others. Additionally, Lesoir collaborated with Paul Reeve, the vocal producer for Matt Bellamy of Muse, for dedicated vocals. The instrumentation was recorded at the Muziekgieterij, Maastricht, while the vocals were recorded in the UK. Steve Kitch, the keyboardist of The Pineapple Thief, handled the mastering.
Push Back The Horizon delves into the intricacies of human existence, exploring relationships and life's complexities. A sometimes limited control over circumstances adds nuance to the human experience, revealing a collective tipping point. The album offers a snapshot of relatable stories, emphasizing life's potential for both thoughtful moments and unexpected events that provide glimmers of hope. Centered on family and brotherhood, it transcends geographical boundaries, highlighting the power of collective action. Instead of dwelling on the past, the album encourages a forward-looking perspective, urging a collective effort to try again for a better outcome.
Autumn 2023 marked Lesoir's highly successful return to touring Europe with Riverside, acquiring a host of new fans. This momentum propelled them into a packed schedule from November 2023 onward, encompassing headline shows and confirmed festival appearances. 'Push Back The Horizon' is poised for a global release by V2 Records, renowned for their collaborations with Skunk Anansie, Mumford And Sons, Moby, and Ane Brun.
