Eddie Cochran - Eddie Cochran Plus Singin` to My Baby (2021)

One of rock & roll’s most joyful and entertaining singers, the legendary Eddie Cochran (who died tragically in a car accident in London at the tender age of 21) was in the same league as the best rockabilly stars. His brash, fat guitar sound helped lay the groundwork for the power chord. His music was explosive, unchecked, rebellious and always exuberant. In addition to his vocals he played the electric guitar, bass, and several other instruments. Cochran was a great songwriter and singer, celebrating the joys of teenage life –the parties, the music, the adolescent rebellion– with an economic wit that bore some similarities to Chuck Berry. He was also (like Buddy Holly) an innovator in the studio, using overdubbing at a time when that practice was barely known on rock recordings
This quintessential collector’s edition includes Cochran’s most famous and essential albums for the Liberty label, consisting of his debut LP Singin’ to My Baby (1957) and the posthumous Eddie Cochran - 12 of His Biggest Hits (1960). These two masterpieces helped define the exact nature of rock & roll.
Also includes 9 bonus tracks from the same period. Highlights include the original hit recordings “C’mon Everybody”, “Summertime Blues”, “Somethin’ Else”, “Sittin’ in the Balcony”, and the edgy “Boll Weevil Song”, which walks a tightrope between rockabilly and country-pop without ever slipping off.

“Eddie Cochran understood to his marrow that rock & roll is not basically a musical style, still less an artform, but above all an attitude.” - Lester Bangs.
