Savage Amusement is the 10th album by the German hard rock / metal band Scorpions.
The new studio album was released almost exactly four years after the highly successful 1984 album "Love at First Sting".
In the meantime, they conducted a monstrous world tour, the World Wide Live double concert album made during the performances was a huge success on both sides of the ocean.
They started working on new songs in 1987, Rudolf wanted to work with his brother Michael Schenker, which (contractual obligations and the like) worsened the already bad relationship between producer Dieter Dierks and the band. So this record became their last work together.
However, neither party took the work lightly, because it turned out to be a pretty strong and upbeat album, mostly with good songs.
The "filler songs" (demos) were not released until the 50th anniversary in 2015. (According to my memories, we didn't lose a crazy amount because they were left behind and they weren't developed better.)
In 2001, EMI released the previous albums with improved sound and a uniform cover concept; the booklets also contained images of the original album covers, as well as information about the details of the album's production, not least the lyrics.
