This quintessential release features two of Elvis Presley’s finest albums from the early sixties, which were originally released on the RCA label: the original soundtrack to the film G.I. Blues (1960), and Something for Everybody (1961). Both masterpieces helped define the exact nature of early rock & roll and contain several commercial hits with which the King of Rock made his name, such as “Blue Suede Shoes” (the version used on the soundtrack is a new recording of the song Presley first recorded in 1956), “G.I. Blues,” “I’m Comin’ Home,” and “In Your Arms,” among others. The two LPs topped the Billboard Top Pop Album chart and Elvis was at his commercial peak during this period.
These formidable albums have been remastered and packaged together in this very special collector’s edition, which also includes 7 bonus tracks. Elvis recorded some brilliant non-soundtrack material in the early 1960s. “His Latest Flame,” “Little Sister,” “I Feel So Bad” (an original Chuck Willis hit from 1954), and “Surrender” remain essential to the Elvis catalogue and to music of this time period. All of these songs have been added as bonus tracks to this superlative CD release.
