We're proud to present the release of an ambitious new Vaporwave concept album by TIMESHARE’94. Groot in België (meaning big, or in this case ‘famous’ in Belgium) sees Jay Sabourin and Enzo Van Baelen explore their family connections with, and love for, Belgium - and especially the city Antwerp. 18 months in the making, ‘Groot’ is a smörgåsbord of Belgian samples, taking in classic Belgo-pop and new beat influences, sourcing influential films, and inspired by family holidays and time spent drinking Seef... and in one case watching Belgium lose to Argentina. It features artwork by (and a collaboration with) Vanitas, himself a Belgian Vaporwave producer, which is inspired by Donovan’s classic album ‘Sunshine Superman’. In a scene usually pre-occupied with American and Japanese culture reference, it’s unusual to see a Vaporwave album so heavily lean into influences from outside of that lens; and that narrowly defined cultural reference point leads to a very unique sound palette, and we hope you enjoy it.
