Malcolm MacLachlan, who records as Appian is a musician and DJ from Detroit, Michigan, and is currently based in New York. Influenced by the futuristic sounds of techno and experimental electronica, MacLachlan blends these influences to explore his own experiences and synthesize new sonic journeys. Appian has contributed music for FINA records, Stripped & Chewed, ANMA, as well as his own Clave House, Sly Fox, and Corndogs imprints.
Fragments is a new double album collection of Appian pieces that evoke a feeling of looking back after a period of change or movement. These are reflections on events and choices that have changed the trajectory of MacLachlan's life - inflection points that have had an unexpected significance. Fragments is also MacLachlan's expression of appreciation for fleeting moments of beauty, and gratitude for being able to experience these moments.
