Betty Everett - Happy Endings (1975)

Great stuff by Betty -- and light years away from her work at Vee Jay! The album was recorded for Fantasy during their golden year of 1975, and it's a smooth batch of sexy soul tunes with arrangements by Gene Page that are very much in a Barry White mid-70s mode. Betty's lyrical stylings are in sort of a Nancy Wilson sophisticated soul mode -- and they're made even better by Gene's slightly-funk warmly-smooth backings. A real sleeper, and with loads of great moments! Titles include "Bedroom Eyes", "Keep It Up", "Happy Endings", "Here's The Gift", "Just A Little Piece Of You", and a great little cover of Brian Wilson's "God Only Knows".
