"Czech Karajan" Smetacek's great performance
The masterpiece "Emperor" unfolds with Michelangeli in great shape, and Schumann "Spring", which is precious and has excellent sound quality!
A great collection of performances by Smetacek, who has been active all over the world, was called "flying conductor" and "music ambassador" in the Czech Republic, and was familiar with the catch phrase "Czech Karajan" in Japan. Together with the Czech Philharmonic, it is a co-star with the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, which are said to be the "three major Czech orchestras". "Emperor" with the perfectionist Michelangeli is a wonderful performance with an orderly orchestra and a lively solo dialogue. Also, "Spring" is a valuable record in the repertoire of no commercial recordings. This is a very good stereo recording and you can enjoy Smetacek's art to your heart's content.
"The co-star (of Beethoven's Emperor') is the Italian master Michelangeli. Michelangeli, who is famous as a perfectionist and a canceller, but how lively and fun he is playing here! No dust is felt, the sound of the piano shines brilliantly, the expression is radiant, and the music that progresses dashingly is full of elegance. Michelangeli is probably the person who brought out the best performance. "(Schumann's" Spring ") is just fascinated by the detailed orchestra control from the brilliant fanfare at the beginning. It's a wonderful word, such as division, but it doesn't make too much contrast, and the music doesn't have any unreasonable force. A single "tame" forms an overwhelming ending. (From the commentary by Mr. Shigeo Itakura in the booklet)
