Joe Grushecky is back with a new album featuring original songs and a cover of The Animals' classic "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place." The album, available on CD, double-LP, and digital formats, marks the first release of new material in seven years from Grushecky and The Houserockers. Live dates are forthcoming to support the album’s release.
Joe Grushecky, who grew up in the coal mining town of Biddle, Pittsburgh, was inspired to pursue a future in rock after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. By day, he is a Special Education educator, but his passion for music led to the formation of the Iron City Houserockers. The band was signed by Cleveland International, a label known for artists like Meat Loaf, Jim Steinman, Ronnie Spector, and Ian Hunter.
Over the years, The Houserockers have collaborated with notable musicians including Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson, "Little Steven" Van Zandt, and Bruce Springsteen. In May 2024, "Houserocker: A Joe Grushecky Anthology" was released, covering 40 years of performances from Iron City Houserockers, Joey G., Joe Grushecky And The Houserockers, and Grushecky's solo work. The anthology features high-profile collaborations and includes Grushecky's version of Bruce Springsteen’s 2005 Grammy-winning song "Code Of Silence," co-written by the two artists.
The new album, "Can’t Outrun A Memory," features 13 Grushecky originals and a powerful cover of "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place." With 17 tracks of pure rock ’n’ roll, the album demonstrates that Grushecky and his band remain a driving force in music. Fans can look forward to experiencing their energy live on tour, but "Can’t Outrun A Memory" is a timeless addition to any rock music collection.
