Prokofiev's masterpiece, Peter and the Wolf, was written for a small orchestra, linking the characters of his own fairy tales with musical instruments. His suite "The Carnival of the Animals", which depicts various animals in music, is the most popular masterpiece of Saint-Saens' work.
Two masterpieces of the orchestra written for children's introductory music are recorded with an accurate interpretation of Bame and a relaxed performance by the Vienna Philharmonic, and a famous British actress is appointed as the narrator.
Tracks:
Sergei Prokofiev: Peter and the Wolf, op. 67
1. I'm going to tell you the story of "Peter and the Wolf"
2. Once upon a time there was a boy
3. But then out of the corner of his eye, Peter saw something creeping up through the long grass. It was the cat!
4. No sooner had Peter and his grandfather disappeared into the cottage, then out from the forest what should emerge, but a great, gray wolf!
5. So this is how it was: The Cat was perched on one branch of the tree. The bird was perched on another. And not too close.
6. Just at that moment, out from the forest, there appeared a band of huntsmen following the Wolf's trail and shooting as they came.
7. Oh, imagine the triumphant procession!
