CoOp Presents are proud to bring you 'Blame Game', a brand new 5-track EP from Oliver Night, featuring the vocals of Bel Cobain, and a guest spot from MC Mighty Moe.
East London's Oliver Night has established himself as a prominent talent in the bruk world over recent years, as a DJ, vocalist, producer and songwriter. In addition to his own productions, he's collaborated with artists such as Jay Phelps, BB James, Inkswel, Jimpster, Tulshi, Ed Seven, IG Culture and Quiet Dawn.
Oliver was originally a member of Roots Manuva's Banana Klan, and has since played at various venues across the capital, from the Tate Modern to Boiler Room, as well as Worldwide FM and Rinse FM with the CoOp Presents crew. Previous support has come far and wide from selectors such as Tony Humphries, Honey Dijon, Kerri Chandler, Jazzie B, Gilles Peterson, Kid Fonque, Rainer Trueby, Jamz Supernova & Seth Troxler, and press from the likes of Bolting Bits and Music Is My Sanctuary.
On this project, he is accompanied by upcoming soul talent, Bel Cobain. A multi-dimensional London-based singer, songwriter and poet that merges jazz, r&b and hip hop, being tipped by many in the music industry as "one to watch". She's collaborated with artists such as Lex Amor and The Silhouettes Project and released a solo EP at the end of 2023 entitled 'Radical Forgiveness' (which also featured production from Oliver). Bel also hosts a regular monthly show on Rinse FM.
Oliver explains how the collaboration came to be. "We first met at a jam session in Hackney - my partner who use to work with her set it up. She ended up coming over and writing. We've all become close and built up a nice strong musical bond and a collection of some beautiful bits of music…."
This EP also features vocals from Mighty Moe on 'Messy'; a legendary UK MC that's long been active in the British dance music scene, gaining initial popularity as one third of the legendary Heartless Crew.
To complete the package, there's a set of firing remixes of both lead tracks from CoOp Presents label bosses, IG Culture & Alex Phountzi, longtime revered producers and selectors, who both turn out dope individual remixes, as well as Donsurf, a Leeds-based Mancunian musician making plenty of noise in the bruk scene in his own right, for the likes of Dance Regular and many more.
This is a formidable collection of deep soulful UKG-tinged bruk riddims, rich in bassweight and high in vibes, that should appeal to anyone dealing with those sounds.
