The Avett Brothers, Charlotte, NC's most popular live band, are a vocally driven trio who play foot-stompin'', old-time, front and back porch mountain music with shades of country and a rock-n-roll attitude. They deliver a harmonic punch with true conviction in the same manner as the Louvins or Everly Brothers. When they take the stage, it's in a whirlwind of movement, three guys playing five or six instruments at all times, singing, stomping, and dancing in an erratic yet rhythmic and contagious step. That pursuit of the truth is what inspired their latest project, "Mignonette." Mignonette" offers what the band calls ''a musical statement in honesty.'' The album title was inspired by an English tale about a 19th century sea captain who was severely punished because he couldn't help but tell the truth.
