Tony Lakatos - Blue Chili (2023)

Tony Lakatos is undoubtedly a prominent representative of the saxophone on the German jazz scene. Like only a few German jazz musicians before him, he has achieved worldwide recognition and constantly tours concerts to preserve the legacy of jazz history, as well as to take into account modern trends. Apart from all genres and categories, he found his own, laid-back saxophone tone, both on tenor and soprano saxophone.
In 2021, he was awarded the Hessian Jazz Prize for this, and now he has used the prize money to assemble the best international line-up in Berlin to pay tribute to his idols. In addition to Alex Sipiagin on trumpet and flugelhorn, he is accompanied by Hans Glavischnig on bass, Gregory Hutchinson on drums and the famous Danny Grisette on piano and Fender Rhodes. Nine original compositions impressively demonstrate the skills of a native of Frankfurt, originally from the Hungarian musical dynasty. Thanks to names such as "Zoots Suits", "Eugen Choose The Short Way" or "Mingus Diggs", the connoisseur will know which idols come to mind for Lakatos. Starting in February, the ensemble will also embark on an extensive European tour with numerous concerts in Germany.
