The idea of forming a Bond band came about during a conversation with Vanessa Mae's composer and producer Mike Batt and her manager and promoter Mel Bush. They figured out that they should assemble a quartet of decorative ladies who play the violin perfectly.
The audition was won by two Australian and two English girls, and since then they have performed many concerts in many places around the world and at special events.
They released 4 LPs, and although they haven't made albums for a long time, the band continues to exist to this day, and even after 50, the girls still perform "modernized" classical pieces with pop accompaniment.
Born is the first album released by the classical crossover string quartet Bond, and was produced by Magnus Fiennes and Gareth Cousins. The album was a worldwide success, reaching the top twenty in charts across Europe. The album reached number 16 in the UK charts, spending six weeks in the top 40, and was also number one in the UK Classical charts, but it was subsequently removed from these charts for not meeting all the 'rules' of classical music.
